What is Tax Credit?

Arizona Law (ARS 43-1089.01) allows the following:

    - Married couples filing jointly a tax credit of up to $400

    - Individual taxpayers a tax credit of up to $200

When they contribute to extracurricular activities or programs in public schools.

Extracurricular Activities include: Sports, Choir, Band, Orchestra, FBLA, FCCLA, GATE, Skills USA etc. (Full list on tax credit form)

Other Eligible Programs include: Character Education Programs, Standardized Testing and Fees, Career and Technical Education Assessment (CTE) and CPR Training,

 

100% of Your contribution goes directly to the school or activity/program of your choice.

 

*Credit eligible fees paid and contributions made to a public school from January 1st through April 15th of the calendar year may be used as a tax credit on the prior year's tax return.

 

* If you Donate before April 18th, 2024 You can choose to apply your donation to either your

2023 OR 2024 AZ Taxes.

Who Can Contribute?

This tax credit is available to all who reside in Arizona and have a tax liability at least equal to the amount of their donation. You do not have to be a parent of a child in our school district to benefit from this law.

 

Corporations are not eligible to contribute.

How Do I Make a Contribution?

Option 1:

TUSD has teamed up with MySchoolBucks and they accept Tax Credit Donations.  For your convenience, we have placed the MySchoolBucks Tax Credit links for each school and activity to the right of this page.  

  • First, click on the school of your choice,
  • Second, click on the activity of your choice,
  • Finally, select "Buy Now" and follow the MySchoolBucks buying process.

Option 2:

Download and complete the Tax Credit Donation Form. Please bring in or mail your completed form to the District office:

The District Office will provide you with a receipt that you will need for tax reporting purposes.

Example

If a total of $1,000 was withheld from your earnings during the year, and at tax time your Arizona income tax liability was only $700, the AZ dept. of Revenue would refund you $300 without school tax credit.

Your Refund Check: $300

 

If, however, you had contributed $400 to a public school, the AZ Dept. of Revenue would refund you the $300- Plus another $400 refund for the school tax credit.

 

Your Refund Check: $700
